Bishop Budka Charitable Society
Serving communities through faith-inspired charity since 1984
The Bishop Budka Charitable Society (BBCS) is a Canadian nonprofit society based in Edmonton. Since 1984, we have supported projects and programs that provide national and international assistance, development, and emergency relief, with a particular focus on Ukrainian communities abroad and Ukrainian-Canadian initiatives.
Our Mission
The mission of the Bishop Budka Charitable Society is:
To carry out projects and programs of national and international assistance, development, and emergency relief
To foster awareness of our global community through education and personal involvement
To promote, encourage, and assist national and international aid and development
To collect, raise, and distribute funds to support aid and development programs of the Society
Our Impact
Over the years, BBCS has supported initiatives including:
Rehabilitation hospital equipment in Ukraine
A rehabilitation centre for drug and alcohol recovery in Brazil
A Ukrainian children’s camp in Bosnia
Delivery and installation of a children’s playground in Ukraine
English-language education for displaced persons from war-torn Ukraine
Our Patron
BBCS is named in honour of Blessed Nykyta Budka (1877–1949), the first Ukrainian Catholic Bishop in Canada, a pioneer missionary, and a martyr of the Catholic Church.
